Rural Antioquia

Here are images from our friend’s country house/farm/finca about an hour and a half south-west of Medellín in a place called Nicanor. To get there you have to take what first appears to be an unpaved mountain road. You soon realized, however, that it is actually an old railroad bed that crawls along the edge of the mountain. Past the finca, you come to a couple of old buildings, which serve as the bus station now, but were previously the railroad station. (Incidentally, we had the freshest, most delicious breakfast of calentado (rice and bean mixed together) with scrambled eggs and hogao and an arepa with fresh farm cheese (and a couple of beers… it was the morning after a big party after all) there.)

Our morning walk to the station…

And finally, Hugo recovering in the sun, with a parade of ants marching past with their spoils after stripping a rose bush bare.
